How to Convert JPG to PDF Free Online (No Software Needed)
Converting a JPG image to a PDF takes less than 30 seconds once you know the right method. Whether you are on a phone, a Mac, or a Windows PC, there is a free option that works without downloading any software.
This guide covers five methods, with device-specific instructions for iPhone, Android, Mac, and Windows.
Why Convert JPG to PDF?
Images are fine for viewing, but PDF is better in many situations:
- Forms and applications: Most online form systems only accept PDF uploads, not image files.
- Professional sharing: PDFs look the same on every device. JPGs may appear differently depending on the viewer.
- Combining multiple images: You can put 10 photos into a single PDF, making it easy to share a complete set of documents in one file.
- Printing: PDFs print more predictably than images. You control margins and scale.
- Portfolios: Designers and photographers often share work as PDFs for easier distribution.
Method 1: Browser-Based (Works on Any Device)
1 Use our free JPG to PDF tool
Best for: Any device, full privacy, multiple images, no software
- Open IWantFreePDFTools.com/tools/jpg-to-pdf.html in any browser
- Drop your JPG file onto the drop zone, or tap to browse your photos
- A preview thumbnail appears showing your image
- Choose page size (A4 is standard internationally, Letter is US standard), orientation, and margin
- Click "Convert to PDF"
- Click the green download button to save the PDF
To combine multiple images into a single PDF, use our Image to PDF tool instead. It accepts JPG, PNG, and WebP files and lets you drag them into the order you want before creating the PDF.
This works on iPhone and Android too. Tap the drop zone, select a photo from your camera roll, and the PDF downloads directly to your device. No app download required.
Method 2: iPhone Photos App
2 Share as PDF from the Photos app
- Open the Photos app and find the image you want
- Tap the Share button (the box with an arrow pointing up)
- Scroll down in the share sheet and tap "Print"
- On the print preview screen, pinch outward with two fingers on the preview (this opens the PDF in a full-screen preview)
- Tap the Share button again in the top-right corner
- Choose "Save to Files" to save the PDF to your iPhone storage
The pinch-to-zoom step is the trick most people don't know. It converts the print preview into a shareable PDF. This method works offline and keeps the image entirely on your device. The resulting PDF is A4 sized with the image scaled to fit.
Method 3: Android with Google Photos
3 Print to PDF from Google Photos
- Open Google Photos and select your image
- Tap the three-dot menu and select "Print"
- In the printer selection, choose "Save as PDF"
- Tap the PDF icon in the top-right to set size and layout
- Tap Save and choose a location on your device
This method is available on most Android phones without any extra apps. If you don't have Google Photos, the same Print to PDF option is available in the native Gallery app on most Samsung and Android devices. Look for Share > Print > Save as PDF.
Method 4: Windows (Print to PDF)
4 Print to PDF using the Windows Photos app
- Open your JPG in the Windows Photos app (double-click the file)
- Press Ctrl+P or click the three-dot menu and choose "Print"
- In the printer dropdown, select "Microsoft Print to PDF"
- Choose paper size (A4 or Letter), fit the image to the page
- Click Print
- A Save dialog appears. Choose where to save and click Save
This is built into every version of Windows 10 and 11. No extra software needed. The result is a standard PDF with the image scaled to fit the page. For white margins, choose "Fill" or "Fit" in the print options depending on your preference.
Method 5: Mac Preview
5 Export as PDF from Preview
- Open your JPG in Preview (the default image viewer on Mac)
- Go to File > Export as PDF
- Choose a name and location for the PDF
- Click Save
This is the simplest method on Mac. Preview creates a PDF with the image scaled to a standard A4 or Letter page. The PDF quality is identical to the original image. You can also open multiple images in Preview at once and export them all as a single multi-page PDF using File > Print > PDF > Save as PDF.
Image Quality Tips
For the best-looking PDF output from a JPG:
- Resolution: Use images that are at least 150 DPI at the target print size. For an A4 page, a JPG that is at least 1240 x 1754 pixels prints clearly.
- Don't re-compress: Each time a JPEG is saved, it loses a small amount of quality. Our browser tool and Preview both embed the JPG directly without re-compressing it.
- Margin choice: For full-bleed printing (image to the edge of the page), choose "No margin." For standard document look, choose Normal margin.
- Orientation: Portrait works for vertical images. Landscape works for wide photos. Auto-detect picks the best option based on your image dimensions.
