Why we built this

Most free PDF tools upload your files to their servers. iLovePDF, Smallpdf, and similar services have to do this because they run conversion software on their own computers. Your PDF sits on a stranger's server for a period of time, processed by systems you cannot audit.

We built IWantFreePDFTools.com differently. Every tool on this site runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Your PDFs never leave your device. Not even for a second. When you close the tab, the files are gone. We have no way to access them because they never reach us.

This is the right way to build a PDF tool. We are proud that privacy is the foundation, not an afterthought.

How it works technically

We use open-source JavaScript libraries that run natively in modern browsers:

• PDF.js by Mozilla — reads and renders PDF files
• pdf-lib — creates, merges, splits, and modifies PDFs
• jsPDF — creates new PDF files from images
• docx.js — creates Word (.docx) files

These libraries are loaded from trusted CDNs and run in your browser's JavaScript engine. Processing happens in your device's RAM. Nothing is sent anywhere.
